Roland's Traditional
Mt Kaukau New Year Run

When conducted for the first time in 1995, this event attracted just four runners, who accompanied me to the top of Mount Kaukau to welcome the new year. The following year the number dropped! (I won't tell how much!!!) Then I decided, that a major incentive was required. Since then the number has increased dramatically.

The incentives are:

  • All runners have their pictures taken on the summit.
  • Third-time participants receive a Certificate of Achievement.

The first person ever to have completed three events (1995-1997) was I. But since I am the organiser, I think, this does not really count. I just hope, that I'll stay healthy, so that nobody can ever catch up with me!
