This is by far the most scenic run I have ever done. So I quickly give some facts and then let the pictures speak for themselves ...

In 1994 was the inaugural event and I was priviledged to have been in the limited field of 250 runners. The number of participants is limited due to regulations of the Department of Conservation, since the course leads through a National Park.

The run starts near Marahau and leads along the coast line over golden beaches and through rain forest to Totaranui, a distance of 38 km. The dates for this event are dependant on the tides, since the Awarua Inlet can only be crossed at low tide. For the same reason slower runners start well ahead of faster ones, to ensure that everyone reaches the inlet within the required time frame.
